What it is

What is Clinical Counselling?

Clinical counselling uses established, evidence-based methods to help you understand what you're carrying and build real tools to carry it differently. Sessions are private, unhurried, and shaped around what you actually need — whether that's a single difficult season or a longer pattern you're ready to change.

Why choose us

Why Choose Lumina Clinic for Clinical Counselling?

01

Confidential, one-on-one sessions

What you say in the room stays in the room. No family member or employer is contacted without your consent.

02

Evidence-based methods

CBT, EMDR, DBT and narrative therapy — chosen for your situation, not applied by default.

03

In person or online

Book a session at the clinic or from home, whichever gets you through the week.

04

No medication required

Talk-based treatment that works alongside, or instead of, medication — the choice is yours to make with your doctor.

05

A plan, not an open-ended commitment

You'll know roughly how many sessions to expect and what progress should look like along the way.

Your visit

What to Expect During Treatment

Every Clinical Counselling visit starts with an assessment — what's going on, why, and whether clinical counselling is the right tool for it. Your practitioner explains the plan before treatment begins, and adjusts it as you respond, so you always know what's happening and why.

Do I need a doctor's referral for counselling?
No — you can book directly. Some insurance plans ask for a referral before reimbursing, so it's worth checking your policy.
Is everything I say confidential?
Yes. Sessions are private, and nothing is shared with family, employers or anyone else without your written consent.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're working through. Your counsellor will give you an honest estimate after the first session and review it as you go.
Can I do sessions online?
Yes, video sessions are available if getting to the clinic isn't practical.
