Chronic Pain Counselling

Pain wears on more than the body. Chronic pain counselling addresses the frustration, low mood and anxiety that often build up alongside a long-term physical condition.

What it is

What is Chronic Pain Counselling?

Living with pain that doesn't fully resolve takes a toll beyond the physical — frustration with slow progress, anxiety about flare-ups, low mood, and strain on relationships and work are all common. Counselling works alongside your physical treatment (physiotherapy, chiropractic, massage or whatever else is part of your plan) to address that emotional weight directly.

This isn't about deciding the pain is 'in your head' — it's recognizing that the psychological and physical sides of chronic pain reinforce each other, and treating both improves your overall quality of life.

Your counsellor works with you on coping strategies, pacing, and processing the emotional impact of living with an ongoing condition.

Your counsellor will ask about your pain history and how it's affecting your daily life, mood and relationships — not to diagnose the physical condition, but to understand its full impact. Sessions build coping strategies specific to your situation over time.

Good to know

Is Chronic Pain Counselling Safe?

Does this replace my physical treatment?
No — it works alongside it. Chronic pain counselling addresses the emotional side while your physiotherapist, chiropractor or other practitioner continues treating the physical condition.
Will you talk to my other practitioners about my case?
Only with your explicit consent. We can coordinate care across your file if you'd like, but nothing is shared without you agreeing first.
