Clinical CounsellingCounselling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
When the body won't stand down after the danger has passed. Trauma-informed counselling for flashbacks, hypervigilance and the aftermath of frightening or overwhelming events.
What is Counselling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder?
PTSD can follow an accident, an assault, or witnessing something distressing. The nervous system gets stuck in a heightened state — flashbacks and nightmares, difficulty trusting others, avoidance of reminders, and a constant sense of being on alert.
Treatment focuses on helping the nervous system come back down from that heightened state, using cognitive-behavioural therapy to work through distorted thinking, gradual exposure to reduce the power of triggers, and EMDR to help process the memory itself.
Sessions move at a pace you set. Nothing is forced — your counsellor will explain each step before it happens, and you're always in control of how much you share and when.
