Clinical CounsellingObsessive-Compulsive Disorder Counselling
When a thought won't let go. OCD counselling helps you understand and manage intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviours that have started interfering with daily life.
What is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Counselling?
Obsessive-compulsive patterns show up as intrusive, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) paired with repetitive behaviours or mental rituals (compulsions) aimed at easing the anxiety those thoughts create. Over time, the compulsions often take up more and more time and energy without actually resolving the underlying anxiety.
Counselling uses evidence-based approaches to help you understand the cycle, gradually reduce reliance on compulsions, and build tolerance for the anxiety the thoughts create — rather than avoiding it.
This is structured, skills-based work, often building gradually over a series of sessions rather than resolving in one or two visits.
Your first session focuses on understanding your specific obsessions and compulsions in detail — nothing is too embarrassing or unusual to share, and your counsellor has heard a wide range of presentations. Treatment then moves gradually, building your tolerance step by step rather than all at once.
