Deep Tissue Massage

Slow pressure, for tension that sits deep. Deep tissue massage uses sustained, deliberate pressure to reach the muscle and connective tissue layers a lighter massage can't touch.

What it is

What is Deep Tissue Massage?

Deep tissue massage works below the surface, using slow strokes and steady pressure to release tension held in the deeper muscle and connective tissue layers. Your therapist may work directly into a tight area until it softens, or ease into it gradually, reading how the tissue responds as they go.

It's a firmer, more focused session than a relaxation massage — the goal isn't just to feel good in the moment, it's to change how a chronically tight area behaves.

A typical session runs 60 to 90 minutes. Your therapist checks in on pressure throughout, especially over scar tissue or areas that have been tight for a long time.

Expect firm, focused pressure rather than a light touch. Some spots — especially old adhesions or scar tissue — can be tender while your therapist works through them, and mild soreness for a day or two afterward is normal, similar to how a new workout feels.

How Do I Know If Deep Tissue Massage Is Right for Me?

Drink plenty of water after your session; it helps your body clear the metabolic waste that gets released as tight tissue loosens up. If you have a bleeding disorder, are on blood thinners, or have a healing injury, tell us before we begin.

Good to know

Is Deep Tissue Massage Safe?

Is deep tissue massage supposed to hurt?
It can feel intense in tight spots, but it shouldn't be sharply painful. Speak up if the pressure is too much — your therapist will adjust.
How is this different from a regular massage?
Regular relaxation massage works the surface layers for a general sense of ease. Deep tissue targets a specific tight or restricted area with firmer, more sustained pressure.
How often should I book one?
Once a month works for general maintenance. If you're dealing with high stress or heavy physical demands, every one to two weeks is more typical until things settle.
