IASTM Technique

Breaking up what's holding you back. Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization uses specialized stainless-steel tools to release scar tissue and restricted fascia.

What it is

What is IASTM Technique?

IASTM uses smooth-edged, medical-grade instruments to apply targeted pressure across muscle, tendon and fascia. The tools help your chiropractor locate restrictions and areas of scar tissue that are harder to feel with hands alone, then break them up to reinitiate the body's normal healing response.

The technique works by stimulating new collagen production in the treated tissue, helping restore normal texture and function to an area that has become stiff, fibrous or restricted.

Your chiropractor glides the instrument across the affected area, using pressure calibrated to the tissue and your tolerance. Mild redness or tenderness afterward is normal and typically settles within a day or two.
